About MicroscopeGear
MicroscopeGear is an independent review site for microscopes. We help electronics hobbyists, repair techs, teachers, coin collectors, mineral collectors, and curious bench users choose the right tool without wading through sponsored placements or copied marketplace specs.
Editorial Lead
Reviews are edited by Logan Johnson, a hands-on electronics hobbyist who cares about repeatable bench workflow: enough working distance to fit tools under the lens, lighting that reveals surface detail, stands that do not wobble, and software that does not get in the way of inspection or documentation.
How We Review
Every microscope on this site is evaluated against bench-use criteria: working distance, field of view, useful image quality, lighting control, stand stability, camera or screen workflow, and value over time. Specs are checked against manufacturer documentation, current listings, and repeatable user reports before they affect a ranking.
